Before marriage and two daughters arrived, I started my working life shuffling papers and having too many large lunches in a city investment bank but quickly found myself frustrated with life in the Big Smoke.
It became apparent to family and friends that I was never happier than when criticising their kitchens and tweaking their appliances, until one friend, in an effort to remove me once and for all from her kitchen, suggested I become a designer. As coincidence would have it, her father had a business selling kitchens and my fate was sealed.
Three years later, my then business partner, Terry Stubbs and I started The Kitchen Company. 30 years on and the company is going from strength to strength and I still get a buzz from designing and creating kitchens, bedrooms and home offices for our loyal customers, many of whom return to us years (some as many as 20 years) after their first installation, wanting more! We are happy to oblige.
