Case Study: Claire’s Project – Pitts

This kitchen was designed for Mr and Mrs Pitts. It was really nice to work with this couple as they were young and full of great ideas of what they wanted to include in their dream kitchen. Mrs Pitts is an interior designer and knew exactly the kind of look and atmosphere she wanted in the kitchen.

The kitchen was to be part of an open plan space; the couple were extending the property to include a living area, dining area with a separate utility room. The space had wonderful views of the large garden, the property

The kitchen needed to be soft, subtle and calm, not bright and ‘in your face’ to enable the feeling of harmony flowed into the living area.

We settled on a warmer soft ‘Sand Grey’ door in the handle less matt ‘Porto’ door range, which worked perfectly with the marble effect quartz worktop. We had an ample range of appliances for lots of cooking, with the hob and extractor on the island which is more social when cooking, especially when entertaining.

We had a bit of a challenge getting the downdraft extractor to work in the space without impacting on the depth of the island and eating too much into the living space, as it was already quite tight. We also had an issue with faulty doors which was a manufacturing fault, but these were rectified when Schuller sent out replacement doors which we replaced.

The end result is beautiful – Mr and Mrs Pitts choice of décor in the rest of the room really enhances the harmonious feeling and flow from kitchen to living area, with statement pieces of furniture and a giant clock which add character to the room. At the end of the project, Mr and Mrs Pitts welcomed their new baby into the home, so it really felt like all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
